There has been a huge amount of work done by many people, but the central team comprises:

Ed East:

Ed is the strongest counter within the team, he will therefore be making sure all funding is in place and money raised is directed towards the appropriate charities. He is based in London but manages to escape to take part in triathlons as far afield as Canada and up to Ironman distance. A similar biking heritage to Rowan should stand their team in good stead to beat the car …. by bicycle.

Rowan Gray:

Rowan is the team expert on all matters Green. As a sustainability consultant for several FTSE 100 companies he ensures that the Green Machine Team is kept on the straight and narrow. In keeping with his low emissions lifestyle, he spends way too much time on his bike partaking in random challenges such as the Ironman or cycling to Sicily…for a wedding. He has also organised and raised money for expeditions such as a ten week trip to Patagonia and cycling (again) from Lands End to John O’Groats.

James Westropp:

James is a leadership instructor at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and has extensive event organisation experience. Most recently he coordinated The Ironguardsman Challenge which saw a team of athletes cycle from Bosnia to Calais, canoe the Channel and then run three back to back marathons to London raising £50,000 for charity. He is the logistic and organisational backbone, having built up plenty of experience after 7 years in the armed forces. With a keen desire to do the best he can for the environment, he has been in awe of the scale and success of the project so far.
